Can I colour the hair extensions?
Human Hair can be coloured, but we do not recommend it.
Any colouring, toning and the use of purple shampoo is done entirely at your own risk.
TJDEPOT will not accept any liability for hair extensions that have been coloured or toned.
Can you suggest after care guidance for a longer lasting healthier human hair extensions?
Caring for human hair extensions is crucial to maintain their quality and ensure they last as long as possible. Here are some aftercare tips (TJDEPOT will not advice or accept any liability) for longer lasting and healthier human hair extensions:
- Gentle Handling: Treat your extensions as you would your natural hair, but with even more care. Be gentle when brushing, detangling, and styling to prevent breakage and damage.
- Use Sulphate-Free Products : Wash your extensions with a sulphate-free, gentle shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner. Avoid shampoos with harsh chemicals that can strip the hair and extensions of their natural oils.
- Detangle Carefully: Before washing, detangle the extensions gently using a wide-tooth comb or a special extension-friendly brush. Start from the ends and work your way up to the roots.
- Avoid Over-Washing: Human hair extensions don't produce natural oils like your scalp does. Wash them only when necessary to prevent drying them out. Aim for once every 15-20 wears but adjust based on your specific needs.
- Deep Conditioning: Use a nourishing hair mask or deep conditioner on your extensions to keep them hydrated and maintain their softness and shine. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the roots or bonds.
- Air Dry: Whenever possible, allow your extensions to air dry after washing. Avoid using excessive heat, such as hair dryers, to prevent damage.
- Heat Protection: If you use heat styling tools, apply a heat protectant spray before styling to minimize heat damage. Use low to medium heat settings and avoid direct heat on the bonds.
- Style with Caution: While you can style your extensions, it's best to limit heat styling to reduce wear and tear. Opt for heatless styles like braids, twists, and updos.
- Avoid Chlorine and Saltwater: Chlorine and saltwater can damage extensions, so try to avoid swimming in pools or the ocean. If you do swim, protect your extensions by wearing a swim cap or braiding your hair.
- Sleeping Care: Braid or loosely tie your extensions before bed to prevent tangling and friction. Sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase can also help reduce friction.
- Regular Maintenance: Visit your hairstylist or extension specialist for regular maintenance appointments. They can reposition, adjust, or replace extensions as needed.
- Avoid Tugging or Pulling:Be cautious when brushing or styling near the attachment points (bonds, tapes, etc.) to avoid pulling on the extensions and causing damage to your natural hair.
- Use Extension-Friendly Products: Look for hair products specifically designed for extensions, as they are often gentler and formulated to protect the hair and bonds.
- Storing Extensions: When not in use, store your extensions in a cool, dry place, ideally in their original packaging or a protective bag to prevent tangling and dust accumulation.
- Professional Removal: If you decide to remove your extensions, have it done by a professional to avoid damaging your natural hair.
Remember, proper care and maintenance are key to prolonging the lifespan of your human hair extensions and keeping them looking beautiful and healthy.
